The Ride Back

Timed to the slowest boat in your group, with 15 minutes of slack. Take longer than that and you ride back with the next group — the van keeps running until the river is empty.

Do we need two cars?

No. One car, parked once, at the put-in. Nobody has to run a shuttle of their own.

What if we are slow?

Stop at the beaches, take three hours. Miss your shuttle and the next one is already coming.

How will we find the van?

One gravel lot, one white van. Text 403-555-0134 if you are standing there and cannot see us.

Common Questions

Before you book

Is the shuttle included?

Yes — included in every rental, no add-on, no extra fee. Park at the boat launch, float down, and we run you back to your car.

How long is the float?

About 75 minutes on the water at typical summer flows. With check-in, the briefing, and the shuttle back, plan on about two and a half hours door to door.

What's the minimum age?

Kids from age 2, as long as they're at least 9 kg for PFD fit. Every child gets a correctly sized life jacket at check-in.

Do I need a permit or a park pass?

No permit, no park pass. The put-in and take-out are both outside Banff National Park, and no licence is required.

Do I need any experience?

No. Most of our guests have never been in a raft. You get a briefing at the launch and the current does the work.

"We float this stretch every summer and Horizon had the best gear we've rented. The dry bags were actually waterproof, and the shuttle was right on time."

Dan P. July 2025 · TripAdvisor

"Booked last minute for a stag party — 8 of us in two rafts. Horizon sorted everything. We just showed up and had the best day of the trip."
